Looking for Carroll's in 1850 Alabama, I found:
Dale Co: Carrell, Reuben 47,NC; Margaret 43, NC; Thomas 22 Nc, Daniel 20NC; Caroline 17 NC; James 14,Ala; Dilla 12 Ala, Media 9, Reuben 6, Simon 6. So. Div. # 168.

In this same census were: Carroll, James 44 NC; Penelope 39NC; James 15,NC; Pleasant 15 NC; Caden 12,Al; Susan 10;
Penelope 8; Sarah 6; Elizabeth 2. So.Dist #217

Are these 2 families related?

In 1860, Covington Co.Ala is: Caroll, Reuben 54,NC; Margaret 51 NC; Daniel 30 NC; James 24,Ala; Dilla(f,22,Ala); Reuben N. 17; Simeon 14. This appears to be the 1850 Reuben Carroll family. Simon & Daniel served in 18th Ala.Inf.Reg and Simon's record indicate he was born in Dale Co., Ala.
In this 1860 census, no James Carroll seems to fit the one in 1850. Can anyone help me put these 2 families together?
