I discard Fred Carroll from Whitfield, GA for two main reasons:

1. His wife was named Dovie Peek (sp?). I tracked down this Fred's WWI Registration Card to prove it. Not only that, but that is what the 1930 Census says if I remember correctly.

2. My great-grandfather, Fred Carroll, was born in AL, not GA. I looked at my grandmother's birth certificate to confirm this. My grandmother was born in 1925, and her father is listed as being 22 years old. That means he would have been born in 1903, which is five years after Fred Carroll born in GA.

Thus, Fred Carroll, b. 1899 in Whitfield, GA, could not have been my great-grandfather. I do appreciate people's efforts to help, though.
