Charlotte, I'm interested in Michael Redwine Carroll because of correspondence I had a number of years ago with Sherry Sheridan. She was answering a query I had placed concerning Sarah Carroll (bn. in GA in 1839) who married George Washington Denton in Paulding Co., GA, in 1855. According to Sarah's censuses, her parents were both born in GA. I still have not been able to find her parents. Here's what Sherry wrote on 30 Dec 2000:

Hi and thanks for writing back. I'm glad you wrote to me before you went to the archives. I have some clues that might help you focus your research on Sarah Carroll. What I have is lots of pieces that seem to fit, but I can't get a perfect puzzle from them. Here they are:

"I'm just so frustrated trying to find Sarah Carroll's parents, but I'm going to search at the archives one more time. I've found a Sarah who was the right age to be our Sarah, but I can't find her after she was 12 yrs. old in a GA census. Have you done any searching for her?"
some clues you may or may not know of:
George Denton married Sarah Carroll in 1855 in Paulding County, GA.
There is M.R. and Mary Carroll in 1860 Paulding County Census.
M.R. stands for Michael Redwine. He married Mary Bullard.
On this 1860 census, M.R. and Mary Carroll are on page 59; George and Mary (Carroll) Denton are on page 54.
George and Sarah's first child is named Mary. (Sarah's mother's name???)
The oldest child living with M.R. and Mary Carroll in 1860 is age 19 (and then ages 17, 14, 6, 4, 2) which means Sarah could have been their daughter just 2 years older than their oldest because Sarah is 21 in 1860.
I have not found any Sarah as being a child of M.R. and Mary Carroll. I am no longer able to contact Sherry to see if she has learned anything about Sarah since she wrote the above. I wonder if you have found any hint that there might have been a daughter named Sarah in the M. R. Carroll family.
