CARROLL of Harford and Baltimore Counties, MD

James Carroll was born 20 Sept. 1820, a native of Co. Wexford, Ireland. His parents are unknown. He came to America in probably the late 1840's. His first wife was Bridget Hayes/Hays. They had children James, John, Michael, Patrick J. and Daniel H. Bridget died in 1856. James' second wife was Rosetta Campbell/Camel and she died in 1879. The mystery is this. James' obituary says he was married twice and leaves a widow and young daughter 'Miss Annie'. So, he must have been married three times. I believe this third wife is the mother of Annie. Who is the mystery third wife? When was Annie born? All I have is she may have married a Cottingham.

There is a will dated 1871 for Daniel Carroll, possible brother to the above James Carroll. Mentioned in the will are James Carroll-executor, Daniel Carroll-nephew, son of James, James Carroll, John Carroll, Elen Develine, Bridget Whalland, Mary Connaughton and Margaret Carroll.
(all spellings as in will)

There is a Bridget Carroll who married 14 Aug. 1854 to Michael Whalen in Harford Co. There is a Mary married to L. Connaughton living in Harford Co. There is an Ellen married to James Devlin also living in Harford Co. On the 1900 census in Balto. City Mary Connaughton is living with the James Burns family and is listed as Mother-in-law.

Any information on these families would be greatly appreciated.
