John,
You are right about the two Samuel Carrolls of Cabell County, WV. It does confuse people. "My" Samuel Carroll was married to Elizabeth Sexton then Amanda Black. My line is the line of Elizabeth Sexton. Elizabeth Sexton and Amanda Black were cousins. Elizabeth's mother (Elizabeth Black Sexton) and Amanda's grandfather (Adam Black) were siblings. Hopefully, people can keep them straight through the wives. Samuel and Amanda Black Carroll did quite a bit of moving between Indiana, West Virginia, and eventually Kansas. I cannot help you with a picture of Samuel Carroll, but we have some unidentified pictures of children that we suspect are Samuel's grandchildren through his sons with Elizabeth Sexton.
K
