Charles,

Glad you have 25 years experience. Would enjoy using your help. Sampson County records show Jessie Carroll Sr owner of "Cedar Hill" also selling a track of land on Six Runs in 1767 to your John Carroll. Records in turn show that your John Carroll sold another tract of land to Jesse Carroll in the same year. I believe they were cousins. Can you prove or confirm that? I also believe they came here from Granville Co. NC. Can you confirm that? I confirm you are right that there is an older generation John Carroll before Jessie, John, Thomas, Hardy and more Duplin/Sampson Carrolls, so I of couuse agree with you that Jessie was not the only Duplin Cousin here.

I descend from an older John Carroll born in Isle of Wight Co. VA who migrated to Granville Co, NC after the Tuscarora War of 1711. His father was also a John Carroll whose 1710 will in Isle of Wight County, VA shows John Carroll Sr giving sons William Carroll and my John Carroll firearms. These sons migrated west for free land coming from the Tuscarora War of 1711. Thomas Carroll of Isle of Wight CO. VA probably followed his brothers to NC as he dries up in VA. Children of these three brothers then migrated south into Johnston, Wayne, Duplin/Sampson and Cumberland counties. A younger generation Thomas Carroll, probably a cousin of Hardy Carroll, Jessie Carroll, and John Carroll was among the Duplin Revolutionary War veterans.

Also, I found a number of other Isle of Wight familes in my direct line that migrated in near time and route with the Carroll brothers, including the Stevensons, Vassers, Rhodes, Lassiter, Jones, Lewis, Copeland, Gray, Uzzell, Weadon, and Herring. What can you tell me of these families? Are any in your line?

Back in Isle of Wight Co. VA, I come from Edwards, Johnson, Luke, Matthews, MacKenny, and Wiggs blood. Are any of these names in your line?

On another interesting light, on Mom's side, my aunt gave me a 664 page geneology book she wrote on Mom's family. Do any of you have Steele, Burleson, Cole, Curtis, Heffner, McCullar, Merrell, Revis, Rhodes, Shipman, Summey, or Wetzel blood?

Thanks for your help and experience.

Oscar
