Almost fell out of my chair when I got your msg. My Thomas Carroll could have come to the Bahamas anytime between 1783 and 1785. He would have come alone, no wife, child or slave because his grant of land was for 40 acres which was for a head of household or a private soldier. He could not read or write, he signed documents with an x. I believe he was young because most of the single men were young and soldiers born about 1750-1755. I believed he came from Maryland but could be any one of the 13. We have done a DNA 37marker test by FamilyTreeDNA in hopes of matching up with Carrolls in the USA so that we could find out for sure which state we came from. We have a lot to talk about.
