I am a descendant of Betsy Carroll and William Williams, who married in Madison Co., Alabama in December, 1821. I believe Betsy's father was Alfred Allison Carroll, son of the Revolutionary War Veteran, Douglass Carroll and wife, Elizabeth Vinson.

Douglass Carroll was born in North Carolina and served in the Revolution from that colony. After the war ended, Carroll ended up in central Georgia, where Betsy was born, c. 1800.

Douglass Carroll had 4 sons: Alfred Allison, David, Richmond, and Harwell.

Betsy named her sons: Alfred Williams, Richmond Carroll Williams, George Washington Williams, Newton Williams, and Jaspar Williams.

The Dr. Richmond Carroll of Madison Co., Alabama fame is a cousin to Betsy, but not the same Richmond Carroll as the son of Douglass Carroll. Dr. Richmond Carroll was a son of Douglass Carroll's brother, Grief Carroll, who died in Lauderdale Co., Alabama c. 1834.
