James H. Carroll & Rose Conlon Carroll, Dubuque Iowa
Posted by: Kevin Carroll (ID *****5868) Date: November 29, 2003 at 08:23:07
  of 9602

James H. Carroll ( 1815 to 1893 ) and wife, Rose Conlon ( 1814 – 1874 ) born in Mayo, Ireland and settled in Dubuque, Iowa. Surviving them were three sons, Michael, John, and Charles and one daughter, Anne Therese

Oldest son Michael ( 1838 - ?? ) and wife, Bridget McDermott had twelve children; Molly, Gert, Clement, James, William J., Rose, Charles, Elizabeth, Ida, Walter, Mabel, and Clarence Raphael.

We know that Molly married Charles Gerlach,
Gert ?,
James married Florence Groves; children unknown,
William ?,
Rose ?,
Charles ?,
Elizabeth married Theodore Gerlach brother of Charles Gerlach,
Ida L. married Robert Kerr; children unknown
Walter married Esther Price and they had the following children; Dexter J, Kenneth W., Hertha A., Helen L., and Reuben F.,
Mabel married Blaine Milligan,
Youngest son Clarence Raphael married Katherine Bertleson and later Eileen Baust but we don’t know if any children were born to these Unions.

Second Son, John H Carroll and his wife, Sarah Clark had two sons, Joseph B., and John Francis. Joseph married Elizabeth Hassett and it appears they did not have children. John Francis married Mabelle Brown Thill and is also appears that they did not have children but Mabelle had a son by a previous marriage.

Third Son, Charles Carroll Married Catherine Byrne. They had no children.

Surviving Daughter, Anne Therese Carroll married P. J. Sullivan and they had many children.

I have looked for current day Carroll surname descendents of James H and his son Michael but so far no luck. I would like to hear from any Carroll’s who might be related to any of them.
