This might help someone. Found in land records of Clay Co., TX.

Carroll Land & Cattle Company was incorporated in Missouri June 6, 1883 with William W. Carroll, Henry S. Carroll and Joseph Carroll forming company; witnessed in Pike County, Missouri by William Carroll and his wife Anna Carroll, in Clarksville, MO, promissory notes given by W. W. Carroll and J. T. Craig, involving S. D. Rainey jr of Marion Co., Texas and J. W. Rainey of Hunt Co., TX for . Signed August 4, 1883 in Clarksville, MO by W. W. Carroll and Anna B. Carroll. Land in Clay County, Texas was involved with the Carroll Land & Cattle Co.
