William A. - James D. Carroll Link Buncomb & Gilmer
Does anyone have any information or link between William A. Carroll (b: about 1797, Buncombe NC., d: 1863, Gilmer, GA) and James D. Carroll See:http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?creed::carroll::4172.htmlhttp://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?creed::carroll::4172.html
(born: 1810, Buncombe NC., d: 1889, Gilmer, GA.) as being brothers, or at the very least 1st cousins? I see both William A. and James D. 's father listed sometimes as William, sometimes as John.
William A. and James D.
(1) Were born in the same county, (Buncombe, around Asheville, NC)
(2) 1840 and 1850 Gilmer GA Census puts them in same county, around Ellijay.
(3) William's wife's mother lived with them as 1850 Gilmer Census shows Jane Plemons living with William and Susan (Plemons).
(4) The Mountaintown cemetery where James D. and his wife Lucinda are buried is in the churchyard of the Mountaintown Baptist Church that was founded in 1840 by (among others) Absolom Pence and Jane Plemons. Absolom Pence, I believe, is William A. Carroll's son's wife's (Carolyn) grandfather.
See ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/gilmer/cemeteries/mountain.txt
(5) William A. named one of his 2 sons Phadello (Phadella). James D. named one of his sons the same.
(6) Bilbro Taft Carroll, g-grandson of William A., before he passed, indicated that William had a brother named "Jim."
Many Thanks!
Greg Carroll
