Donald: I am researching Rachel Edwards Carroll...Rachel was most likely a sister to my ancestor Jessie Edwards born about 1818 Al..son of old Henry Edwards from NC-to Al by 1807..Upper Hurricane Valley area... Rachel married James Carroll 28 Dec. of 1820 in Madison County,Al..On the 1830 Madison County census..James Carroll is listed as living next to old Henry Edwards..one male 5-10, one male 15-20, and head of household..James 40-50...two females between 10-15 and female..wife..30-40...James must have died after 1830 and before 1840..as Rachel Edwards Carroll is listed as head of household.. *my Edwards seem to have disappeared from the area for the 1840 census...as the Cherokee removal did result in some members of the family leaving for MS and Arkansas..By 1850..old Henry is deceased..but Jessie,John Harris and Johnathan Edwards are all living in Upper Hurricane..but I can't find Rachel Carroll..do you know what happened to James Carroll? one did serve in the Indian War..so he may have died as a result.. Madison County marriage records show Charles Carroll married Ruth Hagewood 1818, Richmond H married Lucy Hogan in 1822..and Thomas m Ann Sample in 1814..My records show that several of the Carrolls had settled at Hickory Flatt(Plevna) Alabama early..*Wm Baker who married Hannah Edwards lived next to James and Rachel Carroll also in 1830 also..Wm was born in 1775 in Guilford Cty,NC)..Old Henry Edwards 1750-60 NC was married to a Polly Wilson..daughter of "Chief Robert Wilson"...her mother is said to be a Gentry..
