Brenda: The Dempsey Carroll you mention in Alabama is familiar to me, but he is not the one I seek...Mine was born in Westmoreland Co., in `1710, and died in Loudoun in 1776 (will recorded there.) There are many Dempseys, just to make it more confusing I think....

The only Timothy I encountered has been one named Thaddeus and somewhere I read that their names were interchangeable.
Also there is confusion between Redmund and Fitzredmund...and others too...thanks anyway...It is my belief that my Dempsey whose father is supposed to be Daniel, is a close relative of Charles the Immigrant, maybe his brother. Obviously Daniel and Dempsey left the Roman Catholic Church because they were called Papists in their Virginia Parishes.....("Virginia Carrolls and Their Neighbors"....and I am guessing that Daniel was disowned by his family and forever marked off the books...Sorry, can't help, but appreciate your replying..Susan
