I have also been searching for the Carroll family in Knox County, KY and it has been an elusive line. I am descended from Susan Carroll b. ca 1818. I have long suspected that Susan and your George washington Carroll were the children of George Carrel/Carrell/Carroll who appears in the 1830, 1840, and 1850 censuses of Knox County. Arrabelle Spurlock, who married G.W.Carroll, was probably the daughter of Nancy Cope Spurlock who was the probable sister of my ancestor, Jesse Cope. Those Knox County, KY families were very interconnected. I hope to hear from you.
