My Carroll family departed the Kiltighmagh area between the years of 1847 and 1858. The two were James Carroll, my Uncle, who left with his family in 1847. His brother, my grandfather several times removed, Michael was killed in an accident in 1855 in Ireland and the widow Carroll with babies Michael and Ellen left for England in 1858. James Carroll who settled in Dubuque, Iowa had a daughter, Anne Therese Carroll who was born in Praire Creek Township, Iowa. I wonder if the name of your grandmother and the daughter of James Carroll are related somehow??
