I don't know if this is of interest or not, but thought it might be since you as am I are looking everywhere for Carrolls.
An elderly lady told my mother( Tallapoosa Co, AL) that her grandfather was named Barthlomew, but everyone called him Pappa Lew.
I will check with her and see if I can get more info.
