Here's an update for you: this space is reserved for discussion of Douglass Carroll and his relatives! If you have something else to discuss, at least give it a different title!

Since Douglass Carroll had a son that was born in 1784, lets say he was probably born about 1760, just for a guess.

He served with North Carolina troops during the Revolution, which as you know, started in 1776, so he may have been a young soldier. Some say he was a 'fifer'. Haven't confirmed that yet.

Douglass married Elizabeth Vinson, of Franklin County, NC.
Their sons were: Richmond, David, Harvell H., and Allen; this comes from an old Carroll Bible.

Names of Douglass' brothers are Grief Carroll and Daniel Carroll. May have been more! Sterling Carroll was also a relative, we are not sure how he was related, but Harvell is shown as the administrator of Sterling's estate in Greene County, GA records. Harvell was also administrator of Douglass' estate, a few years later.

We know that Douglass Carroll sold a farm in Franklin County, North Carolina in 1791; then in 1798 he bought 150 acres from Joseph Spradling, and adjoining Col. David Love, on Shoulderbone Creek, in Greene County, Georgia. He died there in November, 1827, and is probably buried around there, somewhere. I would love to know where. A county history book about Greene County recognizes his service in the Revolution, and states he is buried in Greene County, but does not give the exact site. Land locations given here are from county records.

E-mail me for more details.
