Seeking information on James R. Carroll, born ca1833, TN, (county unknown). Married abt. 1855 to Mary Elizabeth Watkins, born ca1835, ALA, (daughter of William Pope Watkins and Mary Eveline McAdams). Children of James and Mary were: Mary F.(born 1856,TX), John H.(born 1858,TX), Sarah A.(born 1862,TX. Lived in Sanger, TX), Wm. T.(born 1866,TX), Louisa Almedia,(born 1868,TX, married 1888-89 in Freestone co,TX to Llewellyn Dumfre Fogleman. "Medie" died in Bexar co,Tx), Tenora, (born Oct 28, 1873, Shelby co,TX, married John Thompson Bickerstaff, 1888, in Freestone co,TX. Lived in Hill co, TX and then Smith co, TX. Buried in Bullard, TX). James and Mary were living in Shelby co, TX in 1860 and 1870. Mary died between 1873 and 1880.

James R. Carroll married second to Mrs. Ann E. Mitcheltree, with step-son J.J. Mitcheltree. They were living in Freestone co, TX in 1880.

Haven't located parents or siblings of James R. Carroll. As in almost all families, there is a tradition that James R. Carroll was half Indian, thought to be Cherokee, meaning one of his parents was full blood Indian???? No proof on this, of course. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a million,
