Gloria,

I'm wondering whether your John Robert could be a brother to my Robert C. Carroll.
He was my great grandfather, born 1856 in DeKalb Co., AL, died 1944 in Hamlin, TX.

My g-grandfather had a brother named John, b. ca. 1846; and a sister named Martha J., b. 1853, AL.

Their parents were Peter W. and Sarah Ann Carroll. Peter died in the Civil War. About 1895, Sarah and her daughter, Martha,
migrated to Ellis Co., TX. They are both buried there. My g-grandfather, Robert C. and his wife, Nancy Parmelia Wright, and their
children migrated to Grayson, then Hunt Co., TX about 1892. There was also a brother, William W. Carroll, b. ca. 1850, who died in Hunt Co., TX.

I always wondered what happened to the oldest son, John. I assumed that he was drafted in to the CSA and, perhaps, died during the war
as well.

Could we be connected?

Michele
