I have the John Carroll you mentioned as b. 5 Jan 1754 in East Thomson or Killingly, the son of Amos and Mary (Smith) Carroll, who m. on 29 Sept 1748 in Middletown, MA. I have no other information on Amos.

I believe I may be descended from John Carroll. He and Hannah Thayer had a son, Kiron Carroll, who was b. 15 Apr 1790 in Thompson, CT. I am definitely descended from a Kiron Carroll, b. 4 Oct 1812, in Charlton, MA. Have not yet proved the connection between the two!
