Would like to compare notes with others that are tracking Carroll in Decatur or Macon County, Illinois. My grandfather, Thomas Carroll came directly from Ireland to Decatur around 1880. He must have had relatives already there. He married Ella Garvin in 1884.He became a citizen in 1886 and one of the witnesses was also named Thomas Carroll. My brother remembers going to visit relatives in the 1920 period. He thought they went south from Decatur. Anyone have a clue?
