David, Thanks for responding..At first I had Duncan and Isabella as parents of James Carrel, too. However, after visiting the Johnston County, NC Heriage Center last April I changed my mind.

There is considerable evidence that he was the son of William Carrel b. about 1742; William being the son of John Carrell, Sr. b. abt 1700-1710 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. This info was in a book by Mark Valsame of the NC State Archives. He seemed to document his work well.

I am waiting for copies of info he has done on James and Rhoda...I spoke with the Heritage Center last week and they will mail them to me.

I wonder if Duncan may be further back in the line? I'm anxiou to see those notes!
