Searching for info and connections between the families of Bishop John Patrick Carroll of Helena, Montana, ( born in Dubuque, Iowa ), father Martin born in County Cavan ( immigrated to USA in early 1950's ) and the families of James Carroll ( Kiltimagh, Mayo ) who came to USA in 1847 and eventually settled in Dubuque with his wife Rose Conlon, and the family of Mary Carroll McGoldrick born in County Cavin ( daugher of Thomas Carroll and McMahon ). Mary and her husband also settled in Dubuque, Iowa. Also, at the time that Jame Carroll imigrated on a famine ship in 1847 there was a Patt Carroll and family who accompanied them from Liverpool and we think they may be related since they were all listed together. Finally, there is the nephew of James Carroll who came to America in 1882. HIs name was Michael Joseph Patrick Carroll. He eventually settled in Harrison, Nebraska. His son Martin lived most of his of life in the Tacoma, Washington and we know one of his sons survived ( William or Michael ) but we don't know what happened to him. The mother's name was Hunter. It has been said in family that James Carroll had a brother Thomas in addition to his brother Michael who died in Kiltimagh in 1855.
