Thanks for your information. I just don't have *anything* about my Carroll ancestor other than that he was born about 1820 in Co. Roscommon, came to Cranston, RI, married Hannah Morrison, and died, leaving five young children behind. I found no mention of his parents on his death certificate, or even cause of death ("U" for unknown).

Do you have any experience with citizenship records? I have not looked there, but maybe that would have a clue.

Your Carrolls are undoubtedly cousins of Patrick's, and so are we! Please stay in touch.

BTW, I love the Leitrim-Roscommon site, and have much more information about my Leitrim D'Arcy ancestors.
