I know a lot of us are looking for a William M Carroll b-abt 1772 - Is it possible that his middle name doesn't start with "M" - but that the "M" actually stood for his last name as in: McCarroll? and that the Mc was dropped later, or that the census taker put the "M" there and others assumed it was his middle initial?
