I haven't gone that far yet. But what I have always heard is that they left England. They left because they were Catholics and felt oppressed. My grandfather, Grover Carroll was one of 7 Carroll brothers. He lived in Buffalo, NY. Actually, I think a "suburb" not downtown Buffalo. He was married to Flora Henrietta Dahlke. They had 3 living daughters, one died in her first year or at birth. At somepoint this side of the Carroll family converted to Protestant religions.
