I would really appreciate it if you could consult your book and see is Ervin Carpenter born in Burke Cty, NC in about 1843-44 married a Cherokee woman. The family believes he did and that they had two children: Betty Jane b about 1869 and Todd. Betty Jane is my husband's Greatgrandmother. She has very definite Indian features in the photo I have seen of her. I have never been able to find Ervin in any census beyond 1860 and his family moved about that time to Graham/Cherokee Cty, NC. Thank you
