My maternal grandfather was Ashton Michael CARROLL b. 8-21-1883 in Bay St. Louis, MS. He was the oldest of at least 11 brothers and sisters: George B., Ethel Duval, Porter W., Laura Hazel, Nora Esther, Maud Evelyn, Margery Cecile, Ruth Bernice, Thelma Brashear, and Henry.

Their parents were George Bruce CARROLL b. 2-5-1858 (in New Orleans) and Jimmie Evelyn PORTER b. 12-23-1864 (in Cold Springs, TX), who married 11-29-1882 at New Iberia, LA.

George Bruce CARROLL's parents are my main research interest. The family, until the 1920s, sometimes also used the surname MOCLAIR, sometimes by itself and at other times hyphenated with CARROLL, as in MOCLAIR-CARROLL. The only thing I really know about George Bruce CARROLL's father was that he was a Michael CARROLL from Ireland, and his wife was Mary Cecilia BORGE from Key West, Florida.

I have discovered a man named Michael MOCLER CARROLL from Galway, Ireland (b. ca. 1832) who died 3-2-1894 in New Orleans who possibly may be my g-g-grandfather. One other fact was that George B. CARROLL had a brother, Walter, who married his wife's sister, Maxim Girard PORTER.
