Thanks for your reply. I'm always glad to hear from another family researcher. If my research is correct, you and I are fourth cousins, once removed. The Richmond Carroll that I'm researching is (I believe) your Richmond Carroll's grandson. Richmond Carroll m. Sarah Driver, had a son John Douglas Carroll. John Douglas Carroll married at least three wives. I believe he married a fourth, my ggg-grandmother, and that Richmond Taylor Carroll is their son. I don't have proof of that marriage yet, but I'm still searching.
Here's the info I have collected on Richmond Taylor Carroll since I posted that note... He was born Nov 1859 in Mississippi. He died 14 Apr 1934 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas. He married Johnny Vaden Wigley on 21 Jul 1878 in Freestone County, Texas. His obituary states that five sons and three daughters survived him. The sons are J.S., Allen, T.C., Ben F., and Henry F. The daughters are referred to only by their married names (Mrs. Gamble, Mrs. Hickman, and Mrs. Jackson.)
His sister, Kate Aubry Carroll, married Johnny Vaden Wigley's brother, Almarine Vandiver Wigley. Another sister Maria has been more difficult to trace. She might be the Mariah W. Carroll who married James L. Cook on 18 July 1872 in Freestone County, Texas.
