Yes, the mormons do have their own death dateing. 1980 is most likely when their ancestors had them technically re-married. I forget how it works exactly, but I went to the Mormon center in new york city and they said the reason they are so obsessed with finding ancestors is to save them in the afterlife by re-marrying the couples to eachother. This somehow lets the modern mormon's family be saved or legitimized somehow. I'm sure I'm murdering the reason, but that's the jist. 1980 is sort of their death date becaue they are now "resting in peace."
