My family is of African American heritage but we are told that the Benjamin Franklin Carroll family is where we received our surname due to a slave named Aunt Chardie that was owned by the Carroll's that lived in Blooming Grove,Texas. A young girl from another slave owner in the area gave her Mulatto baby boy to Chardie to raise as the girl was driven fron her owner's land because of the baby. The baby was called "Little Allen", my great grandfather. I live in Dallas but I am from Corsicana,Texas. My father, Allen Carroll lived in Corsicana until upon his death 3 years ago. Our family reunion committee would be happy to give you the limited info that we have. We would be interested in gaining more info on the Carroll family as this is how we aquired a surname and we have your family to thank for this. Otherwise we don't really have a surname to call our own.Our second reunion was held in Purdon, Texas and we visited the Carroll cemetery. In one corner are the graves of the family slaves. Thanks for any info you might pass on to me.
