I have been researching those Carroll families present in and around Clay Co., Fayette,Marion and Effingham IL.that were born in NC,or Tn.or migrated thru Tenn. as early as 1820 or 30. Names I'm interested in are your Raiford Caroll, my Thomas Carrell or Carroll,b. 1819, William Dotson Carrell or Carroll, John D, Peter, Polly, Samuel, Joseph, Benjamin.
I notice from the 1830 Census, Raiford was listed as Raferd Carrel,in 1840 he was listed as Radford Carrol,1850, was given as Raford Carl(Carroll)all fayette Co.In 1830,
William Dotson Carrell, Thomas and John D were in Marion Co. they all stayed right around this area until about 1860-70. I'm hoping to find whether some of these were related. These are the oldest ones of each family I know about.I can't help but think they may be related.I sure need some sibling and parents names. Thanks
