We are searching for the parents of James David Carroll, born Jan.1, 1850 in Conyers, GA. He died in 1825, in Quanah, TX, a town that he helped to found. He first came to Navarro County, Texas as a young man, after the Civil War. A 1925 letter was found from a nephew of his, signed James T. Carroll, of Baird, MS. It is thought that some of these GA Carroll war-refugees may have gone to Navarro County, TX, to be near other family members, because they had lost everything in the Civil War. James David Carroll's parents names are unknown, but his father may have been killed in the War. In Texas, James D. Carroll m. Elizabeth Burleson, and they had 5 children. Please check your family information for mention of either of these James Carroll relatives.
