if he were socts irish i doubt he would of lived in maryland. which was catholic. there were loads of catholics in america pre 1776 and alot in puritain new england who even being roman catholic celebrated at anglican churchs and simply didnt mention roman conections read thomas o'connors boston irish for more on that.
