It is not difficult to trace the descendants, with surname Carroll, of Charles Carroll of Carrollton. They are simply:

1. Charles Carroll of Carrollton (III), an only child, married at 31 years his cousin,
+Mary "Mollie" Darnell.
2. Charles Carroll Jr. of Homewood (IV), their only son married,
+Harriet Chew, daughter of a Chief Justice of the State of Pennsylvania.
3. Charles Carroll (V), their only son.
4. Charles Carroll (VI)

If you are a direct descendant of Charles Carroll of Carrollton, and your surname is Carroll, then you MUST be descended from Charles and Harriet (Chew). There are no other ways. There is no indication in the official sources that Charles Carroll of Carrollton had two wives.
