Every Carroll who first becomes interested in there surname seems to think they are related to Charles Carroll of Carrollton. If you are a Carroll and your line is Protestant you are not related to him (except perhaps distantly). When I first started to investigate my line there was a myth that we were related. There are NO direct ancestors of Charles Carroll of Carrollton who converted to the Protestant faith. Unless your ancestors were Catholic you are most likely Scotch-Irish (Ulster-Irish).
