My earliest Carroll was born Pa 1806.Anthony Wayne Carroll.Family history has it that his father was killed in the war of 1812. (He was named after his fathers army buddy Gen. (Mad) Anthony Wayne. There were several children in the family and they were lined up against the fence and a well-to-do neighbor came by and picked out young Anthony Wayne Carroll to be raised by him and an apprentice to his trade. What trade?I've no idea.He later migrated to Ohio (Newark Co, Granville, Ohio), and married 1826 Belinda Noble Root. (Anthony wrote a family history, or genealogical book that was published by his cousins Lysander Barrett and another brother....?I have a postcard that was sent in mid 1800's telling about the book and it's readiness.I have never seen a copy of this book, but I sure like a copy). They had several children, including Anthony Wayne Carroll,II, who married Roxanna Phoebe Havens.Anthony II was a school teacher and taught Roxanna to read. They met when she was on a cattle drive with her father (Lorenzo Havens). If they came upon other ranchers or farmers that they had previously met and Roxanna did not remember their names, her father burnt her bare feet with a hot poker.Anthony II rescued her from this abusive father and they were married in Tipton, Iowa.Later moved to Kalkaska in Kalkaska Co., Mi.
Roxanna's mother was Phoebe Harrison, dau of Isaac and Hanna (Lincoln) Harrison.Hanna was a sister to Tom Lincoln, father of Abraham (the pres).
