Robby, I don't think my uncle (last name Carroll) had a complete cleft lip, but there was a something unusual about his lip. However, my brother does have a cleft lip, but none of his children do. Other Carroll relatives do not have any clefts that I know of... The genetic cleft lip usually manifests itself in more than one member of the same immediate family, so I think there is only a slim chance that cleft lip is inherited among Carrolls. However, there is a chance that it goes along with some heart disorders and thus may be genetic.

Do you have any information about other Carrolls in MS? I'm looking for a Will Carroll, married Betty Merchant in MS and moved to TX. There they died and their son was sent back to MS to live with relatives. Ring any bells?

Thanks! Janie G.
