Benjamin Carroll VA, SC or NC?>KY>IN

I am still looking for the parents of Benjamin Carroll. He was born 1811 in either NC or KY. In the 1850 census it says he was born in NC, in the 1860 census it says he was born in KY. We know he came from Ky to IN before 1832. There are records of his marriage to Sarah "Sally" Sinclair in 1832 in IN. His children's names are: Emaline, Joseph, John, Nancy, George, Elizabeth, James, Benjamin, Isaac, Abigail, Hickman, and Jane. If he named one of the first two boys after his father, then his father would be either Joseph or John. In the same census records, there are the names of a Joseph and William Carroll. They are about the age that could indicate that they are siblings of his. Any help in this would be deeply appreciated!!!
