Carroll Ire/MA/Iowa
Posted by: Barbara Date: May 23, 1999 at 19:28:47

My great grandmother was Elizabeth Carroll. She was born in Ireland around 1840. She married John Monahan and had their first child in 1871. They moved from Needham, Newton, and Watertown and finally settled in Dedham, MA. She came over from Ire. with her mother, he father had passed away, and several siblings. It is believed that the rest of her family moved on to Iowa where they had a farm. I have been told that it was Des Moines, however, I have also been told that everything in the area was called Carroll which leads me to believe it may have been Carroll County. One of her sisters was a nun.

I am at a dead end and would appreciate any help. If it is a clue, Elizabeth (Lizzie) and John's childrens names were, Thomas, Margaret, John, Charles, Lawrence, Mary, Agnes, and Leo.

Thanks
