The couple of references I have are IGI based so it will be interesting to see your expansion of that information.

I see I have Carrodus references for Keighley going back to the 1730's; so whether they arrived there so early from Upper Airedale or actually went the other way would be something to be established.

My understanding is that Cardus, Carrodus, etc. is derived from the Scottish Carruthers so one theory would be that they spread south-eastwards from Westmorland - may even have originally been "Border Reivers" !!!!

I haven't heard from Stella yet - but it sounds like your family and hers should fit together somewhere.
