Elizabeth,
You say you believe the surname Carrion to be French. Although most examples of the name seem to be associated with Spain, there is also a french family. I have an ancestor referred to as the Count de Carrion. I do not know his first name, though at one time he was living in what is now Northern Italy in the town of Tarvisio; probably in the late 1780's. The Count went to India with his wife, and two daughters, Josephine Frances and Angelique de Carrion. I am led to believe that the town of Dax in Southern France may have been home to the French family. Also a Philipe de Carrion was an officer in the French Army in Canada in the 18th century. Should anyone have any more knowledge of the French family, I would be grateful to be informed about it.
