My GGG Grandfather was WILLIAM ( L. ) ROGERS b. abt. 1770 Montgomery Co. NC who had son BASIL ROGERS b. 1794 NC.They sold their land along LONG CREEK in Montgomery Co. NC on Feb. 18, 1823 to a Mr. MATHIAS BARRINGER of CABARRUS CO. NC.Mentioned in same BARRINGERS deeds is an ABRAHAM KERRICHER / CARRIKER and wife ELIZABETH.This may mean something to those in the line of the families by that name in CABARRUS, UNION,and Anson/ Montgomery/ Stanly Co's NC, though Abraham is listed being in ILLIONOIS when he too sold his land to BARRINGER.
Our William Rogers and wife NANCY UNKNOWN moved with their extend ROGERS families to CARROLL CO. TN by Dec. 1823.This was in a mass migration out of Montgomery Co. NC ( now STANLY CO. NC ) where our ROGERS lands were along Long Creek, Riles Creek, and Curl Tail Creeks. This is the upper northwest region of what is today STANLY CO.NC along the borders of CABARRUS CO. NC and ROWAN CO. NC.Our Rogers were first found on the 1774 Anson Co. NC petition to lay off a county road across their property then, ( JAMES ROGERS, Sr. , son JAMES ROGERS, Jr. and a JOHN ROGERS ) all signed this 1774 Anson Co. NC Petition. However, they didn't enter their land until the 1779 when the upper end of Anson was taken into form Montgomery Co. NC in 1779.All their land deeds in name of JAMES ROGERS had been entered in summer of 1779, ( which included land along those rivers aforementioned ).Later in 1801-1804, William Rogers had his Rogers land resurveyed and the chain Carriers were WILLIAM WALKER and JAMES ROGERS, SENR.( We believe that by 1801-1804 that JAMES ROGERS, Sr. was in fact JAMES ROGERS, Jr. who had assumed SENR. as his father Sr. had died by then ).
As far as we know there were no surnames of CARRIKER in our ROGERS lines, but we do have BARNHARTS, BUSHARTS, and others associated with some of those Cabarrus Co. NC families. Many had moved to Carroll Co. TN and intermarried there.
