Cariker Families and Relatives
I understand that my family probably originated in or around Oklahoma, and eventually some of them ended up in California. I was told my grandfather (Ewell Leon Cariker),(born in 1912) called "Lee," was the son of "Mattie" E. Rhoads(?)Cariker (born in 1885).I am not aware of my grandfather's father's name. Ewell was married to Sybil Roberta Lee (born 1919) and they had Jerry Leon Cariker (my father),(born in 1935) and Carol Cariker (my aunt), who might still be living and be around Mission Viejo. Carol had 2 children: Christina (sp) and John. Ewell (my grandfather died in 1980 in Lake Isabella, Kern County, CA. Sybil died in 1995, and Ewell's mother died in 1988,in Oxnard, Ca.My father (Jerry) grew up in Whittier, CA, but was born in Oklahoma City, OK. Jerry died in '2000' in Nevada. My father told me once we were originally from Scotland, but had to leave because of some kind of a conflict.(?) I have reason to believe Mattie's maiden name was Rhoads, and Ewell might have had a brother named Earnest. My mother told me that Ewell and Sybil use to visit Cleveland, Arkansas on their vacations and it is assumed they visited family while there. There is an Arkansas connection with his father (Ewell) and I was told there was a full-blooded Indian (female) with a connection to Telequah. My father's first wife (Dorothy) had 4 children, Jerry Lee Cariker, (twins) Robert and Roberta, and Laurie (sp) Cariker- these four are somehow connected to Nebraska. I was told a brother of my grandfather also had a set of twins and possibly named one "Jerry." My father's second marriage (to my mother-Laurine Borremans) produced 3 children: (myself) Lisa Cariker, Kevin Cariker, and Lee Cariker. Sadly, most of these people have died and I have no communication with anyone. If any of these names are familiar I would appreciate any response.I would enjoy hearing from someone who might be able to help me trace my ancestors. Any information is appreciated.
