Thank you, thank you!! Sorry for the delay in my reply...I was so excited to find someone researching the Walker surname, that also had some knowledge of the Mecklenburg Carrigan's. I have wondered for some time about just how connected they really were...
Do you have knowlege of the following Mecklenburg Co., NC occurrences:
April 1788: 4 yr. old Elizabeth Carrigan, an orphan is bound to Hugh Carrigan
Jan 1895: Hugh Carrigan's will is probated in Mecklenburg Co., NC. This will mentions a bound girl, Elizabeth Carrigan, and sons William and Henry Carrigan, and is witnessed by Moses Walker and others
July 1795: 11 yr and 3 mo. old Elizabeth Carrigan, an orphan, is bound to Moses Walker
Jan 1797: Matthew Walker, Sr. appointed administrator of estate of the deceased Mary Currigan (sic?)
Jan 1797: Sale of 90 acres by William Currigan to Matthew Walker proven in court. Actual date of sale was ?? 1793.
Apr 1798: William Currigan (sic?) administers the estate of the deceased Hugh Currigan (his brother?)

Taking a further indepth look at the first 2 notations above...I have some notes on a little Elizabeth Carrigan (b. ca 1783/84 prob. in Orange Co., NC). She was apparently the dau. of Edward and Margaret Paul Carrigan, who were married in 1781 in Orange Co., NC. Edward Carrigan died ca. 1782/83, and left a will naming wife Margaret and an unborn child. Margaret's brother John Paul is mentioned by name, as well as Edward's brother's James & John Carrigan. In Feb. of 1784, Margaret Carrigan is appointed guardian of her dau., named Elizabeth, with securities by James Roney and John Collins. This little Elizabeth Carrigan is about the right age to match the Elizabeth Carrigan bound to Hugh Carrigan in 1788, and Moses Walker in 1795. I can't swear to this connection, but I think it may be worth checking out.
It is a long shot, but if you have and Walker connections to any of the above mentioned, even the witnesses, it may establish a Mecklenburg to Orange Co. connection between these families.
I believe that this line of Carrigan's was also connected to the Mebanes of Orange Co., NC, possibly through marriage, and most for certain through business and land dealings.
Please contact me at gkcarrigan@comcast.net to discuss further.
