Hello Rita.

Even thou i am not a direct descendant of Aphonce John CARRIERE/CARRIER, I became convinced i could locate who his parents were as he would certainly be a relation to me, presuming he'd be an uncle.
I've been reviewing the notes i had regarding him, and this is a hard one. There is not enough information..... what would need to be done would be a copy of his birth certificate or marriage cert., may list his parents.

A researcher by the name of Rod, is not convinced Alphonce is the child of Andre and Angelique:

"From Rod MacQuarrier
....Alphonse John Carrier who fathered William John Carrier in 1886 at Fort Assiniboine.

I don’t have any evidence for the existence of an Alphonse Carriere born in 1832. A young son, name unknown, appeared in Andre Carriere Srs family between the 1833 and 1834 Red River censuses, but apparently disappeared between the 1843 and 1846 censuses."

So, Rod may be hinting that since this child did not appear in the 1833 & 1834 census of Andre's family, that this child may have died.

Gail Morin, a premier Metis researcher now has him listed as parents unknown. She at one time had him listed as a child of Andre and Angelique, but later decided that there was not enough evidence either.

Wish someone could find him in the Montana Census Records.

Montana during the Riel Rebellion in Canada. They
settled around Deep Creek. In 1917 his father Alphonse
died and they moved to Choteau.
William married Flora Azure on Sept. 9, 1916 at
Choteau. He did ranch work in the area, also some
farming.
William was a very tall man with a dark complexion.
He was always particular about his appearance, dressed
is a suit and always appeared neat.
Children born to this union were Arthur in 1918; Ralph

All of her children went by the name Carrier.
Flore was a housewife and a homemaker; she cared for
her children. When they were big enough to go to
school, they attended at Holy family Mission and at
Choteau. Flora was a very pretty woman with a
complexion of dark skin. She died in May, 1929 and is

William left Choteau in the early 50's and moved to
Anaconda, Montana. His second wife was Louise S.

Would you have any family documents, notes that you could refer to?

Alphonse's wife, Angeline Grant, had quite the life and history. Have you done much research on her?

Till later
