I am looking for anyone who has evidence or research into the parents of Elizabeth Haviland (ca 1844 - 1887), wife of Duane Williams Carrier (30 Jan 1836 - 1 Oct 1908), who were the parents of Willis Haviland Carrier (26 Nov 1876 - 1950), the latter known as the "inventor of air conditioning." I was contacted once by his descendent Susan Carrier but her email no longer works (and mine has also since changed). We had surmised, back in 2000, that Elizabeth's parents might be David Jay Haviland (29 Mar 1820 - 13 Aug 1868) and Ann Elizabeth Button (27 Mar 1823 - 15 Mar 1849). However I need evidence. I am attempting to find her death certificate, but I'm not entirely sure where Mrs. Elizabeth Carrier died. Since Willis Haviland Carrier is buried in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, NY, I am making my first inquiry with the County Clerk in Buffalo in hopes that possibly his parents died in that municipality. I own the biography "The Father of Air Conditioning" however it gives no information on Elizabeth's ancestry.
