My family hails from outside Montreal - a great grandfather named Joseph Carriere came to join his son Archibald in Detroit during the Depression. This is too late to be the same Joseph Carrier, of course. (We dropped the accent aigu and the final "e" when Archie moved to Detroit).

I'll ask my dad if he has ever heard of any other Joseph Carriers - he's a regular mass-goer (in fact, past President of the Detroit Catholic Lawyers).

If you have any info by now on the person of your inquiry, I'd like to know about it. There is one other lawyer in the Detroit area named either Joseph Carrier or Paul Joseph (my name is Paul Joseph), which I found out when people called to congratulate me on passing the Michigan Bar Exam (1991-1992) though I had passed six months earlier. I wonder if that Carrier would have any idea - you could try to find him through the State Bar of Michigan - there may be a web directory.
Good luck,

Paul J.
