I have a hypothesis about Susanna and John Carrier.I believe John Jr. was the elder son of W. John jr and Mary Morrell Carrier. In the 1830 Sullivan county census John and Jonathan Carrier are listed. Living with John is a female age born between 1750 and 1760 whom I believe is Mary Morrell Carrier Wallin. After W. John's death in about 1805 in Shenandoah Va , Mary supposedly returned to Tenn. and married Stephen Wallin. John Carrier family is found in Hawkins County in 1840 along with Daniel Carrier (born bet 1810-1820) household who was probably a son but the female born bet, 1750 and 1760in Johns household is not listed, probably deceased. In the 1850 census this family is no longer in Hawkins county.I read somewhere, butcan't find the reference that Daniel went further west I believe Arkansas. I believe John died probably died between 1847 and 1850.In the 1850 Sullivan census Susanna is listed as head of household with Mary 36 Jonathan 19, Nancy 9 and Issac 3.In the 1860 Sullivan Census Susanna is living with Edward Carrier (36), probably a son. Mary is a housekeeper for Hiram Sams, Issac is living with John R. Jones (53) probably Susanna's younger brother because in this household is Susan Jones age 93 probably Susan Ramsey Jones Susanna's mother. A Nancy Carrier of the right age does not show up in the 1860 census she probably was married or deceased. Jonathan does not appear in 1860 census of Sullivan Co either.Does any of this match up with your information. If so Email me at thomas.carrier@ usa.net
