John. Thanks for the tip. I too have checked Paris. No help there. Peter arrived in 1674 with a dozen others with English and Irish surnames. That is proven by a document found by JWatson, bless her heart. They were all transported (way paid by someone else) meaning they indentured to work for land owners. The transporter was English, Mr. Dobson. Normandy is unlikely as a source, but then anything is possible. The name is not French, but rather Portuguese. It is an ancient name dating to the Romans, but spelled in Portuguese the same way since the 11th century. Other spellings notwithstanding, Carrico is Portuguese in derivation. However, Peter could have been a French citizen or an English citizen. So far, although I've offered a reward of $600 for any evidence connecting Peter to France, no one has been able to deliver.
